There's another case of a Hamilton woman being caught up in the mire of Immigration red tape.
Wafaa Abdou is married to Canadian Ian Wilkie and they have three children.
They fled Syria during the Arab Spring in 2011 while Wilkie was working in Damascus as a translator.
He says they've been told several versions of what they should do to obtain her residency under his sponsorship.
Abdou has been detained at an Immigration detention centre in Mississauga since January 14th.
A deportation order for Abdou has temporarily been stayed, after Hamilton MP Dave Christopherson discovered a gap in some of the paperwork and intervened in the case.
An immigration hearing is set for March 20th.
This follows the case of Lucene Charles of Hamilton who won a repreive from deportation last fall in her fight to stay in Canada and raise her three Canadian children.
