The new Citizen's Arrest and Self-defence Act, giving you more leeway in nabbing criminals, is not sitting well with at least one of Hamilton's leading Defence Attorneys. Jeff Manishen says there are a lot of questions.
He says the act doesn't define what is intended by "a reasonsble use of force in a citizen's arrest. "
Manishen says the act allows you to make an arrest in a reasonable amount of time after an incident, but there's no definition for how much time that is. He says the act also leaves the door open to vigilantism.
