A Hamilton hairdresser has been awarded over $27, 000 dollars by the Human Rights Tribunal for years of sexual harrassment and pay discrimination by her employer.
Natalina Garofalo won her complaint that she filed against the owner of Cavalier Hair Salon in Stoney Creek.
The adjudicator ruled that Garofalo had been harrassed by Joseph Finelli, with sexual invitations and touching, to the point where the owner "poisoned" her work environment.
He also found that Cavalier paid their barbers more commission than its hair dressers.
In addition to Garafolo's payment, the salon was ordered to hire a consultant to develop workplace policies on sexual harassment and Finelli was ordered to undergo training.
