The Hamilton Police union is offering its two cents worth on the proposed police budget.
The Association says if Chief Glenn De Caire wants 20 more front line officers, he could pull them from the ACTION team.
The ACTION team is about 40 uniform officers deployed on foot and bicycle patrol for increased police visibility within neighbourhoods, particularly downtown.
Association President Mike Thomas says the ACTION strategy may be accomplishing some good things in the targeted area.
However, he wonders if the current staffing level is justified.
That's included in a letter going to the Police Services Board today and council is due to take another look at the Police Services budget on Thursday.
As it stands now, the Chief is still wants a 3.71 per cent increase.
