City councillors have given the thumbs up to new snow clearing guidelines.
The new measures will see residential streets plowed after 8 centimetres of snowfall, down from the current threshold of 10 cm.
It will also require snow plows to clear roads down to the pavement.
Councillors say they received hundreds of complaints about uncleared streets following a snow storm on December 26 in which 15 cm of snow fell in Hamilton.
The guidelines will go to a final vote at city council next week.
Councillors have also asked staff to investigate a new system that would allow residents to track the location of snow plows via GPS.
