Burlington's 2013 budget has received almost unanimous approval.
Only Councillor Marianne Meed-Ward voted against the spending plan, which includes a 4.4% tax increase or about 19 dollars for each 100 thousand dollars worth of assessed property value.
Meed-Ward is unhappy with what she considers some "nice to have" items although she stresses those concerns do not involve transit enhancements, added library and community centre spending or a 1% levy for the city's contribution to the Joseph Brant Hospital redevelopment.
When combined with the Region of Halton's 0.8% tax increase --- the overall hike for Burlington residents comes in at just over 2%.
