BELLEFEUILLE SPEAKS WITH RIDERS' HALL
Marcel Bellefeuille says he speaks with Richie Hall all the time but hasn't offered the Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive co-ordinator a similar job with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. A source requesting anonymity told The Canadian Press on Tuesday that Hall, one of the CFL's most respected defensive co-ordinators, has met with the Ticats about a similar post with the club. The source added Hall spoke with Hamilton officials Monday and his contract with the Riders has expired, leaving him free to entertain other potential offers. Bellefeuille, the Ticats head coach, said he spoke with Hall on Monday but on a purely social basis. "Richie and I are friends," Bellefeuille said Tuesday. "We talk all the time. "I'm in the process of looking at everything right now and I haven't even started evaluating the defensive side of the ball. I'm still looking at the offensive side." Denny Creehan was Hamilton's defensive co-ordinator in 2008 and still has a year remaining on his contract. IRELAND NAMED GREY CUP REFEREE
Jake Ireland will be the referee for this Sunday's Grey Cup in Montreal. It will be the former Stelco worker's 15th appearance in the final, and it will also be his last game as a CFL official. After officiating in more than 550 CFL games, the 61-year old Burlington native is retiring. The Stamps and Alouettes kick off the 96th Grey Cup at 6 o'clock on Sunday.

Hamilton Tiger-Cat Nick Setta has been selected the CFL all-star punter. Setta was the CFL's most consistent punter this season, averaging a league-leading 47.4 yards per punt.

THOMPSON EARNS ALL-STAR NOD
Ticats defensive back Chris Thompson has been named to the CFL's defensive all-star team. Thompson tied for the league lead with nine interceptions, and is Hamilton's nominee for the most outstanding player and most outstanding defensive player awards. Thompson also recorded 60 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, one fumble recovery and 10 pass knockdowns.

COACH BELLEFEUILLE TURNS ATTENTION TO COACHING STAFF
Ticats coach Marcel Bellefeuille has met with all his players and now he turns his attention to his coordinators and assistants. Bellefeuille has said that he wants to have his coaching staff in place by early December. Defensive coordinator Denny Creehan says he believes his defense improved as the season progressed, and would like to remain in Hamilton. The Cats defense allowed a league-worst 440 yards per game and was last in the CFL with 26 sacks and tied for 2nd with 23 interceptions. Hamilton's other assistant coaches are special teams coordinator Dave Easley, receivers coach Dennis Goldman, offensive line coach Jeff Bleamer, defensive line coach John Kropke and defensive backs coach Chip Garber. The Ticats staff also includes coaching consultant Danny McManus, offensive assistant Jon Behie and defensive assistant Crhis Decker.
