
Tom Darling's radio career began in North Bay at CFCH in 1931. He headed south in 1040 for a position with CKOC Hamilton in Sales. Tom joined rival CHML in 1941, and was appointed manager in 1944. CHML and CKDS-FM were purchased in 1971 by Western Broadcasting Co. Ltd;, with Tom being named President and Managing Director, a position he held until his death in 1983.
Tom was past-President of the Central Canada Broadcasters Association and is considered to be a pioneer of Talk Radio in Canada.
Tom Darling was posthumously inducted into the CAB Broadcast Hall of Fame in 1985.
