Don Luzzi joined the staff of CHML and CKDS in 1976 and served as General Manager for 23 years.
He served as a volunteer with the local United Way, the Hamilton District Chamber of Commerce and Opera Hamilton.
One of his greatest achievements was creating the CHML Christmas Tree of Hope Campaign in 1976.
It began as a charitable initiative to help raise funds for needy children during the holiday season and became a legally registered charity shortly thereafter.
The campaign has now grown into a year-round Children's Fund, and all monies raised are distributed annual through local organizers that cater specifically to the needs of children.
