In 1944, Kenneth D. Soble became the owner of CHML's parent company Maple Leaf Broadcasting. Soble was instrumental in creating the ever-popular "Main Street Jamboree" from the CHML Auditorium in 1952, Canada's largest hillbilly and western music show.
He also helped launched CHML's FM format in 1964, which later became CKDS in honour of Soble who had died in 1966. The station still lives today as CJXY (Y108).
In his 20 years in Hamilton, Soble was deeply involved in the community as the chair of Mayor Lloyd Jackson's first Urban Redevelopment Committee and as a Governor of McMaster University and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
In 1985, Kenneth D. Soble was inducted posthumously into the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
