Locke Street North (from York Boulevard to Barton Street West) – The majority of this work is expected to take place during the night hours in order to reduce the sewer system impacts while work is in progress. Expected completion date is late summer 2009. The work will be completed intermittently.
King Street East between Centennial Parkway and Battlefield Drive will be closed to all through traffic from April 6th to May 15th inclusive. This is to allow for the installation of a future use trunk sanitary sewer, to be installed under Battlefield Creek. Local access will be maintained for residents within the construction zone and Battlefield Park will remain open during this construction period. During this construction period, there will be no 5-Delaware bus service on King Street from Centennial Parkway to Jones Street. There will also be no 58-Stoney Creek Local service on King Street from Lake Avenue to Centennial Parkway and on Centennial Parkway from King Street to Queenston Road. Millen Road from Barton Street East to Highway No. 8 will be worked on as part of ongoing upgrades to Hamilton’s infrastructure. Work will also take place on Federal Street and Red Oak Avenue from Millen Road to Margaret Avenue. The work involves converting the road allowance in this area from a rural road (ditches/gravel shoulders) to an urban road with a wider roadway having curbs and sidewalks. The underground work involves the supply and installation of storm sewer with services and water main with services. The above-ground work involves road reconstruction including road widening with the installation of concrete curbs and sidewalks. Work is expected to be substantially completed in December 2009. There will be paving works carried out in 2010.
Cannon Street from Ottawa Street North to Gage Avenue North will be under constrcution as part of ongoing upgrades to Hamilton’s infrastructure. The work involves a new storm sewer, new watermains, new water services to residents and businesses, as well as a new curb, sidewalk and roadway.
In order to complete these upgrades in a safe, timely manner, the following road closures will be in effect:
Monday March 30th, 2009 to April 12th, 2009, the intersection of Gage Avenue and Cannon Street will be closed to all traffic, but will reopen Monday April 13th, 2009. While some minor work will still be under way, the intersection will be open for buses and traffic to use. During this two-week closure, there will be no 3-Cannon bus service on Cannon Street between Sherman Avenue and Ottawa Street. Monday March 30th, 2009 to June 26th, 2009, Cannon Street will be closed to all traffic and will re-open on June 27th, 2009. Once open, traffic will be able to use one lane in each direction. From April 13th, 2009 to June 26th, 2009 there will be no 3-Cannon bus service on Cannon Street between Gage Avenue and Ottawa Street. For further HSR information please visit

Highway QEW - from east of Burlington Skyway to east of Red Hill Valley Parkway connection on the Niagara bound QEW. Expect delays up to 20 minutes. Lane closures QEW Niagara Bound from eight at night to four the next afternoon. All lanes closed on Burlington Street from twelve midnight to six in the morning. Lane closures QEW Toronto bound from Centennial Parkway and Woodward Avenue from seven at night to five in the morning. QEW Toronto bound all lanes and ramp closures upstream Red Hill Expressway from seven at night to five in the morning. QEW Fort Erie bound all lanes and ramp closures upstream Burlington Street from seven at night to five in the morning. Highway 6 North - from Highway 403 northerly to Highway 5. Expect delays up to 10 minutes. Expect daytime lane closures on southbound Highway 6 from eight in the morning to four in the afternoon. Expected End Date - July 15 2009.
