When I started we had Bob Bratina, Roy Green, Bill Sturrup, and Bob Sherwin on the air.

It's strange to think of the talented folks who have retired or unfortunately passed on in such a short time.

But, I guess it stands as it is a testament to this place that those names could move on and names like Paul Tipple, Bill Kelly, Scott Thompson, and I'll say it Ted Michaels are still kicking around.

This is not me stroking our ego but somehow this place manages to keep the best of the best around and maintains the historical quality it has always had.

I think that is a rare quality and I am proud to be a part of it.

Even if I seem to hae a ...

Football tonight

With all due respect to the CFL....football starts tonight!

Whatever the reason the start of the NFL season is just so exciting.

I love the Ticats but this year as I think of the possibilities of the 49ers doing well in the NFC West I get giddy.

There is no comparing the popularity of the two sports either it is night and day.

But what is it that the NFL does so right?

Is it about the product?

Is it the gambling?

Is it the hype?

I don't know what the overall reason is but I think it emcompasses all of the above.

It's not a knock against the CFL....It's simply the truth.

Over the last few days I heard more people talking and posting online about the NFL than ever talk about the CFL.

Game on.

What pooped on my car

Okay....seriously.....what pooped on my car?

was it a Pterodactyl?

Can't help myself

I know it is not done but have you seen this pedestrian bridge that is going up over the Q.E.W near Confederation Park.

Now I have been trying to give it time to develop and look better but that is not helping.

This thing that is costing millions of dollars looks ridiculous.

As you drive along the highway this bridge is supposed to be some beautiful thing that people will notice....I can say you notice it but it looks silly.

It looks like someone bent a couple big pieces of steel and called it pretty.

It's not.

For millions of dollars I would expect something inspiring or at least neat.

It's neither.

A time we all miss

It's days like this that make you nostalgic.
The first day of school was always a special day. Sure as kids we would say that we didn't want to go but in fact we did.
Deep down inside every single one of us were curious what the school year would bring.
Wondering around the halls seeing faces you knew and some you didn't was exciting.
At some point you might rub someone the wrong way but again just the enjoyment of school.
When you moved to a new school it had some fear to it but again you were just so caught up in the unknown that you were drawn back in.
If we could go back...you know that we would.
Just for the chance feel that excitement that rarely gets matched in the working world....sure it happens once in a while when starting a new job but the kids ...

Times they are a changing

There comes a point every year when our mind shifts.

Some say it has to do with the kids going back to school, others say it is all about the weather cooling down.

Those of us in the know.....we understand there is only one thing that makes the world different in September.

Labour Day.

The renewal of the rivalry we all take pride in.

For some reason the Cats could lose 10 games in a season but a win on Labour Day makes it all better.

This year the stands will be full and both the Ticats and Argos are good teams. That makes it even more intriguing.

And hopefully it will deserve the title of "Classic"

My best Seinfeld....

What is the deal with spoilers?
No I'm not talking about people who ruin reality T.V shows...although those people aggravate me to no end too.

Spoilers on cars!
Am I the only one who thinks they look ridiculous?

I especially love the ones that are on small little 4 cylinder vehicles. Someone needs to tell those people that the car can only go 140km before breaking apart it doesn't matter how much down force you have.
Then there are the ones that are neon green or have a black light on them.

Do I even need to comment about those?

Spoilers are silly and are actually useful on race cars.

Not your modified '76 Gremlin.

What a quick summer!

Now I'm not much of a fan of the heat so I'm shocked that this summer seemed to fly by.

I would have thought it would feel long but nope.

Seemed really short didn't it?

Mind you some people always think summer is too short. For me though I look forward to fall so much that summer usually lasts forever.

Not this year.

I guess I happily say hello to fall.

I love everything about you.

Let me put it in short notes, there is no need to write an essay about city council !
Bob Bratina belongs in the 1960's / Is not a visionary / He's from the old school !
He should have ran for Mayor around the time we had Mayor Copp's !
Our elected officials, (as the republicans would say), are flip-floppers ! If this was the
U.S (thank goodness were not), the republican party would feast on these guys ! Fox news would hammer them !
The decision was made in regards to West Harbour and they should stick with that decision !
I never heard of a Business owner say I am going to take my ball and go home !
Perhaps he adapted the attitude from Uncle Sam !
Some politicians do not even cast their vote / Why ? no one will run against them, so ...

Work together

September 15.

Wow....yet again we are looking at an extension to make a decision on the stadium site.

Is it just me or have we been working with extension after extension?

At some point we need to finally...what is the saying...."fish or cut bait"

I really hope this is the last time we push a decision back.

But I wonder if this plan has sealed the deal for the Aberdeen/Longwood location?

It would seem to me that two weeks is a short period of time to explore a bunch of sites but the councill has surprised us before.

Are we ready to agree on the Aberdeen/Longwood site or do we need to keep looking?
