It’s a natural partnership, when you think about it.
The corporate sponsorship for Hamilton’s new stadium will be Tim Hortons.
The two go together like a double double and a Boston Cream.
Tim Hortons was started right here in Hamilton back in 1964, by hockey great Tim Horton and a Hamilton cop named Ron Joyce.
The first ever Tim Hortons store is still there at Ottawa Street and Dunsmure.
And over the years, Tim Hortons and its many franchisees have been strong supporters in the Hamilton community.
I must say, I’m liking the way this stadium is coming together.
Timmy’s on board as a corporate sponsor; the news of a huge, state of the art scoreboard with a huge screen, and I’m told, upcoming announcements about a number of other amenities in the weeks and months ahead.
I don’t listen to the complaints from the whiners and naysayers about the stadium.
Most of them rarely, if ever, attended events at the old stadium and probably won’t pass through the turnstiles at Tim Horton Field either.
The stadium story is a lot like the Tim Hortons story; built by the positive energy of people who ignored the naysayers and made their vision a reality.
