Concerned citizens want Hamilton police to crack down on loud motorcycle exhaust systems.
Operation Baffle is calling on officers to make sure bikes have baffles to help reduce the noise.
The Ontario Highway Traffic Act requires every motor vehicle to have a muffler in good working order to prevent excessive or unusual noise.
But Stuart Osborne and Martin Essig, who started Hamilton Against Loud Exhausts, or HALE, say the law is ineffective.
They say it doesn’t define what level of noise is too much.
They want a bylaw that enables either police or bylaw officers to measure the noise coming from vehicles.
The pair says Oakville, Guelph and Caledon, all have bylaws that specifically targets excessive vehicle noise.
