Dozens of trees will be removed during the construction of Hamilton’s first Park n’ Ride facility.
The lot is being built, along with a transit terminal, at the Mountain Transit Centre on Upper James.
Of the 82 trees to be removed, city staff say only 29 are considered healthy while the other 53 are in “various states of poor health”. They will be replaced with 67 new trees.
The hope is that the Park n’ Ride lot will increase use of the HSR, particularly on the A-Line. Construction is expected to begin before the end of the year.
