Today is my daughter Alicia’s 11th birthday. She was the first of our two.
I can remember the day she was born like it was yesterday.
My wife tells everyone what a good baby she was.
All the nurses wanted to hold her because she was always happy.
Even as a new born she had smiling eyes.
Those smiling eyes have grown into quite a creative, outgoing, free spirit who very much dances to her own beat.
And dance she does while constantly singing at the top of her lungs around the house.
She’s very active and enjoys playing hockey although would rather talk with friends on the bench than score another goal.
Now she’s in grade 6 and we can tell on the cusp of becoming a young lady.
With every birthday your baby gets older as does your realization of her independence.
But as my 80 year old parents say, they’re always your baby.
Happy Birthday to my girl!
