Did you feel a sigh of relief when 9/11 came and went without incident.
Yesterday we were reminded again of those events that changed the world as we know it.
Where we were. What we were doing. Who we were with. All came rushing back.
Hard to believe it’s been 12 years. For those who remember, those images are as clear as if it happened yesterday.
Or has it become just another day on the calendar that you don’t really notice until its brought to your attention.
Like for those at the Massachusetts Port Authority who run Logan airport where two of the 9/11 planes originated from.
They held a fire training exercise at the airport yesterday sending black smoke billowing into the air scaring the bajeebers out of citizens who thought it was another terrorist attack. They later apologized.
After 12 years we have gotten used to taking off our shoes and walking through scanners at airports.
After 12 years another generation has grown up and only know about the traddgey from their history class.
It’s an ugly piece of U.S. history, and unfortunately, an event that has helped define our generation.
It’s our Pearl Harbour, It’s our Vietnam.
No it may have not produced the casualties of war.
But being the first attack on North American soil, it has left just as big a footprint.
