A transitional home for federal parolees has finally won its battle with City Hall.
Hamilton’s planning committee has approved the zoning changes that are needed to allow St. Leonard’s House to push ahead with three million dollars of renovations to its Emerald Street South location.
Ward 3 Councillor Bernie Morelli has fought the approval due to problems with the number of similar facilities in the area, but Stoney Creek’s Brad Clark says legally that’s not a reason to block the renovations.
St. Leonard’s has been operating out of the same century-old home on Emerald Street South for almost four decades.
The renovations will make it accessible and improve living conditions.
