To say today is the biggest game of the year for the Tiger-Cats is an understatement.
Hamilton entertains the Argos today at 4:30 on AM900 CHML, needing a win to pull to within 2 points of the East Division leading Argonauts.
The teams have split their first two meetings, with the Cats winning the most recent matchup, last week in Toronto.
The Boatmen will have Ricky Ray back under centre after a 6 week layoff because of a shoulder injury.
It’ll be interesting to see how rusty, or how effective, Ray will be today.
Toronto won’t have injured running back Chad Kackert in the lineup and cornerback Pat Watkins is on the suspension list for personal reasons and won’t play either.
The latter roster move will certainly open things up offensively for Hamilton.
But they can’t rely on Toronto to hand them the game.
The Ticats have to come out with their most intense performance of the season, knowing the Argos are withing reach.
Whether they can do it or not is the question, as the Cats have not won 2 straight games since August.
I get the feeling though, that might change today.
