Where do you stand on Jim Irsay’s comments about Peyton Manning?
With the Broncos quarterback making his return to Indy this Sunday night, the flamboyant Colts owner has again stuck his foot in his mouth.
He told USA Today — “You make the playoffs 11 times, and you’re out in the first round seven out of 11 times. You love to have the ‘Star Wars’ numbers from Peyton” — then talked about the most important thing being the Super Bowl ring the Colts won in 2007.
Irsay is now backing down from those comments, probably realizing that he sounded ungrateful for what Manning did for the Colts organization.
Indianapolis won at least 12 games for seven straight years with Manning at quarterback.
Without Peyton Manning at the helm, I don’t think Lucas Oil Stadium would ever have been built.
And without Manning, as former Colts head coach Tony Dungy has suggested, maybe Indy ends up moving to Los Angeles.
Peyton has offered a “no comment” to the story.
And don’t think for a second that it won’t be in the back of his mind when he leads the Broncos into Indy.
He’ll be fiery inside… but stay classy on the outside.
Unlike Jim Irsay.
