Scott Park may become just a parking lot, if the Hamilton public school board has its way.
Trustees have voted to support the latest plan for a lower city high school that includes Scott Park being levelled for a 165 space parking lot.
Demolishing the old building would first require it be expropriated and then the board would have to spend 2-million dollars to bring it down, including the extra costs for asbestos removal.
The plan also calls for a three storey high school to be built on the King George-Parkview location.
Expropriation is the next hurdle with the current owner wanting over 5-million dollars for it and the last municipal assessment putting the value at under a million.
