The CFL has announced the team winners for the 2013 Gibson’s Finest CFL Player Awards.
The Tiger-Cats winners include:
Quarterback Henry Burris- Most Outstanding Player.
In his 15th CFL season, Burris leads the league with 4,790 passing yards, has completed 356 of his 543 pass attempts and has thrown for 22 touchdowns. His 65.6% completion percentage currently ranks as the top single-season mark in Ticats history. This year, Burris became the fifth quarterback in CFL history to throw for 50,000 career passing yards and the sixth pivot to run for over 5,000 career rushing yards.
Defensive Tackle Brian Bulcke for Most Outstanding Defensive Player & Most Outstanding Canadian.
Bulcke has anchored the Tiger-Cats defensive line this season, making 24 defensive tackles, three fumble recoveries and three quarterback sacks.
Right Guard and Right Tackle Greg Wojt – Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman
In his first year with the Tiger-Cats, Wojt has been a steady presence on the offensive line while demonstrating his versatility by starting at both right guard and right tackle.
Linebacker Marc Beswick- Most Outstanding Special Teams Player
Beswick enters the final week of the season at the top of the league’s special teams tackles list with 22. The Ticats special teams captain has led the Black and Gold in special teams tackles in each of the last four seasons.
Running Back C. J. Gable – Most Outstanding Rookie
Gable has put together a sensational rookie campaign, rushing 130 times for 782 yards – and average of 6.0 yards per carry – while catching 54 passes for 598 yards and adding 12 total touchdowns. His 1380 yards from scrimmage leads all East Division players and ranks fourth in the league.
The East and West Division winners will be announced on November 7.
The awards will be handed out on November 21 in Regina.
