You can’t blame Ticats head coach and GM Kent Austin for resting a bunch of his players tomorrow afternoon when Hamilton visits the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg.
A number of star players will get some well deserved R n’ R this weekend.
Given the crazy number of injuries and CFL record 80 plus players to wear the Ticats uniform this season, I think its a smart move.
Tomorrow’s game means nothing in the standings as the Ticats can’t move up or down.
They’re playing a team in Winnipeg that fell behind the pack early on in the season, and is only battling with Edmonton for position on the CFL draft board.
The notion that the Ticats need more momentum going into next weekend’s East Semifinal against Montreal, I think, is a little overrated.
If Hamilton loses tomorrow with a bunch of backups on the field, does it really matter?
Does it really matter if the Cats have an above .500 season, or a 10 win season?
Or does it matter more that the team is heading into the playoff run with a healthy squad?
I’ll take the latter, because sacrificing a meaningless 2 points for a better shot at the Grey Cup is the way to go.
