Today is the day we take a moment to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives so we could live ours.
There has been some controversy this Remembrance Day caused largely by some misguided people at the Rideau Institute.
They claim the red poppy campaign is “a celebration of war”.
Funny, if you were to ask my kids they would say the day is to pay respect to those who died at war to defend our freedom.
Take a look around at the various tributes today, does it look to you like they are “celebrating’?
Their white poppy campaign is designed to take away from the spirit behind Remembrance Day saying no one has a monopoly on the day.
True. You can do what you want in this country within the law, even if you are angering the men and women who the day is for.
Thank goodness they gave their lives so people like this could disrespect them.
No one has a problem with a celebration of peace, but please don’t exploit our veterans to advance your political agenda.
There are 364 other days in the year for that.
Buy a red poppy. Lest we forget.
