For the first time in 27 years the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts met in the East Division finals, and just like in 1986 Hamilton is heading to the Grey Cup after a 36-24 win.
It is Hamilton’s first Grey Cup appearance since 1999.
After forcing a fumble on the opening kick-off Hamilton was able to open the scoring with a 16-yard Luca Congi field goal.
Toronto responded on the next drive marching down field capping it off with a 8-yard Ricky Ray pass to Spencer Watt making it 7-3 Toronto.
With less than a minute left in the first quarter Hamilton took the lead back with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Andy Fantuz, Hamilton on top 10-7.
Toronto jumped out to the lead with a 29-yard Ricky Ray pass to Watt for the second time, followed by a 1-yard Zach Collaros touchdown rush, and Toronto lead 21-10.
Swayze Waters would extended Toronto’s lead with a 28-yard field goal.
Hamilton would cut into the lead before the half was out with Henry Burris hooking up with Andy Fantuz for the second time of the day making it 24-17 Toronto at the half.
On the opening drive of the second half Hamilton would march down the field and tie the game 24-24 on a 14-yard Henry Burris to Greg Ellingson touchdown.
Luca Congi would give the Ticats the lead back on the final play of the of the third quarter with a 23-yard field goal followed up by a 21-yarder making it 30-24.
Mark Beswick would seal the deal with a special teams touchdown as Toronto would try to lateral the ball on the kick-off following the Congi field goal.

Hamilton will play the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Sunday’s Grey Cup after the Riders whipped the Calgary Stampeders 35-13.
