One day after winning a key vote of support for a new hospital in South Niagara, Ontario Conservative Leader Tim Hudak went on the offensive at Queen’s Park.
He pressed premier Kathleen Wynne for actual details on when residents could expect construction on the new hospital to begin.
To this point, the government has announced a grant to fund the cost of detailed planning.
Niagara Health System Supervisor Kevin Smith has recommended the new site to replace existing or mothballed hospitals in Niagara Falls, Welland, Fort Erie and Port Colborne.
One potential location is off the Q.E.W. at Lyon’s Creek Road.
Hudak’s motion seeking support for the project passed on Monday by a vote of 71-to-15. The oppoasition is from New Democrats who support the new hospital, but not at the expense of four others.
