As I mentioned here yesterday I was going to write that commentary on my kids hockey tourney but thought the Grey Cup would be more entertaining.
Clearly I was wrong. I’ll try again.
My daughter Alicia was playing in a pee wee tourney in Newmarket this past weekend.
By the way, it is already winter in Newmarket, they got 6 inches over the weekend.
The girls did great, especially considering 5 of the 15 are older the remaining 10 new to the division where size can differ greatly.
They fought their way into the semi finals where they lost out to a rival, higher ranked team, in a 1-0 nail biter.
What the kids learned this weekend was if they work hard they can defy the odds and have a greater chance to obtain their goals.
More importantly they learned when they fail, to be proud of their 100% effort and learn for the future. After the tears, of course.
Thanks to everyone who gives their time to coach all our kids, they’re a special breed.
Including Aldo, Blake, Brian, Nicky and Paulie Walnuts who took a skate blade to the shin bone during a shift change, speaking of tears.
The kids can’t until you fulfill your end of the bet, and jump into the hotel pool wearing dresses!
Uh oh…more incriminating tourney pictures!
I’m Scott Thompson.
