I kind of feel like Jimmy Fallon, writing my thank you notes, but here goes .
Thank you Hamilton Tiger Cats for a remarkable 2013 season.
We didn’t know what to expect from these guys this year, lots of new faces and new coaches, and of course, the makeshift stadium facilities in Guelph ; there was a long list of reasons why this team could have packed it in, yet there they were in the Grey Cup.
That’s pretty amazing !
Then, there’s Bob Young, the self-described ‘Caretaker’ of this storied franchise.
Bob has come under a lot of critisizm over the last few years, much of it uninformed and unfair, yet like Ron Burgundy suggests ,he stayed classy through it all.
And he never waivered from his goal of restoring Tiger Cat pride, he continues to invest a great deal of his own time and money to make that happen.
I wish we’d won on Sunday, heck, we all did, even Tom Hanks and Marty Short, but don’t attach the word ‘ failure’ to this team , this year.
I saw thousands of fans make the treck to Guelph all season and I saw the crowds at the Roar Store, scooping up Tiger Cat T shirts and jerseys .
Tiger Cat pride and Hamilton pride has been re-born in this community.
We owe Bob Young and his Tiger Cats for making that happen.
