Police have arrested three men in connection with the 2001 firebombing of Hamilton’s Hindu Samaj Temple and the smashing of windows at the Hamilton Mountain Mosque.
Both attacks occured in the days after the “9-11″ terrorist strikes and Hamilton Police say they will be prosecuted as hate crimes.
Detective Sergaent Matt Kavanaugh says the accused parties have been linked to both crime scenes through DNA profiling, and as a result of new information received from the public earlier this year.
Charged with arson to property, possession of incendiary material and mischief under five thousand dollars are 33 year old Christopher Pollard, 33 year old Scott Ryan and 34 year old Damien Marsh, all of Hamilton.
Police Chief Glenn DeCaire adds that 12 years later, the incidents have changed the city forever in a “profound way” as we focus on “inclusivity, respect, tolerance and understanding”.
