The Christmas season kicks into high gear this weekend in a number of local communities.
Canadian Pacific is rolling their holiday train back into town this weekend with some star passengers.
The event will feature performances by Great Big Sea and Natalie McMaster in a free concert at Gage Park.
Those in attendance are asked to make a donation or bring a non-perishable food item all of which will be donated to the Hamilton Food Share.
To date the Holiday train has raised $7.4 million dollars and roughly 3 million pounds of food for North American Food shelves.
Burlington M-P Mike Wallace and Mayor Rick Goldring will flick a switch this evening to light the CHML Tree of Hope in Civic Square as part of the city’s Lakeside Festival of Lights. The festivities start at 5:30.
At the same time, CHML’s Scott Thompson will oversee the lighting of Aldershot’s Tree of Hope.
Waterdown, tomorrow evening and Burlington, on Sunday, are among the locations for Santa Claus Parades this weekend.
The Hamilton Waterfront Trust will also get in on the act hosting its Waterfront Festival of Lights. Those lights go on this evening at Hamilton’s Pier 8.
