Andrea Horwath is calling on the Liberal government to show common sense and compassion.
She used Question Period today at the Legislature to raise the plight of an 85-year-old Hamilton couple who have been separated by the long-term-care system after 60 years of marriage.
Horwath complains that Gilda and Domenico Rosatone are being pulled apart in their golden years by short-sighted government policy stressing that “isn’t the way a six-decade love story should end”.
The Hamilton-Centre M-P-P is urging the government to bring the Rosatone’s back together since it has already said that reuniting couples in the same situation is the right thing to do.
Health and Long-Term Care Minister Deb Matthews says her government is looking at the unfortunate situation.
