A Hamilton woman will soon be 50-million dollars richer.
Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation says Kathryn Jones is the rightful owner of the 50-million dollar Lotto Max jackpot from November 30, 2012.
Jones was unable to find her ticket and the OLG launched an exhaustive “Lost Ticket Prize Claim” review, receiving 435 inquiries regarding the LOTTO MAX jackpot.
President and CEO Rod Phillips calls it “one of the most unique in OLG’s history.”
It included interviews with Jones, using the OLG transactions database to verify her purchase, checking surveillance video from the Shoppers Drug Mart on Dundas Street in Cambridge which showed her buying the $16 ticket, as well as referencing her credit card statements.
The prize will be held for a minimum of 30 days and if there are no additional valid claims, Jones will receive the money.
