The video has gone viral.
It shows two Hamilton Police Officers arresting a young female on a domestic violence charge.
The guy who shot the video was clearly trying to embarrass Police, but instead, it shows those officers doing an outstanding job under very stressful circumstances.
The female being arrested was beligerent and un-cooperative and was clearly playing to the camera.
We’ve posted the video on our website at 900chml.com ; see for yourself.
The two Hamilton officers, Mark Morelli and Chantelle Wilson controlled the scene, completed the arrest of the unwilling suspect and then, amazingly, took the time to explain what had transpired and why police took the action they did.
Officer Morelli even apologized to some of the bystanders for having to witness the yelling and screaming but stated that police can’t let someone who’s under arrest be set free just because they make a scene.
The reaction to the video has been overwhelming; praise and support for how these officers handled a difficult situation.
In this age of camera phones and videos, police are under more scrutiny than ever before.
That can be good and bad.
The video of Toronto Police handling of the Sammy Yatim Streetcar standoff last summer was shocking.
This video of Officers Morelli and Wilson showed Hamilton Police at their best.
