Caledonia fire victims identified

Two people are dead following a fire in Caledonia.

Emergency crews were called early Saturday morning to a three-story apartment on Argyle Street North.

Firefighters found the body of a man and an elderly woman inside.

They have been identified as 56-year-old Donna LaPierre and 76-year-old Gerald LaPierre.

Three other people were taken to hospital in Hamilton for treatment of smoke inhalation.

OPP say the fire was contained to the one unit, but much of the rest of the 30-unit building sustained heavy water and smoke damage, totalling 250-thousand dollars.

Names of the victims have not been released and a post-mortem is scheduled for today.

The Fire Marshal has been called in.
