Things are about to get a little less shady around Gore Park.
The first phase of the “Pedestrianization” project is set to begin and that means as many as eleven trees will be taken down as part of the 2.3 million dollar plan.
City staffers are promising it will not be a repeat of the chainsaw massacre of trees in 1983 that became known at the Gore Park Fiasco.
In fact, the city says more trees will be left standing than cut down.
The first of three phases is intended to further transform the section of the park into “Veterans’ Place” and will begin next week.
