Assurances About a North End Gasification Plant

Hamilton, ON, Canada / AM900 CHML

The head of a proposed energy from waste plant on the Hamilton waterfront is once again offering assurances that no waste from outside this area will be used in the plant.

Robert Clark told a public meeting last night the Port Fuels and Materials Services plant is designed to source its waste locally and feed its energy back to local needs.

Clark says the plant will provide between 30 and 50 full-time jobs, plus construction jobs while it’s being built.

And although Councillor Bob Morrow believes the city should formally oppose the project, he points out it could raise as much as 500 hundred thousand dollars a year in taxes.
