More red light cameras are headed to Hamilton’s roadways following an endorsement by city council at today’s Public Works meeting.
Six new cameras will be installed at locations thoughout the city, creating an estimated 500 thousand dollars in additional ticket revenue.
Hamilton’s roadways already have 13 operational red light cameras that resulted in over 15 thousand charges, in addition to tickets.
City staff are hoping to see an increase in road safety as a result of the cameras citing fewer right-angle collisions at intersections citywide.
Proposed locations for the new red light cameras include King Street and Mohawk Road.
