Hamilton’s chair of the Pan Am Sub-committee now says he’s almost convinced the stadium will be ready for the Labour Day Classic.
Councillor Lloyd Ferguson took a two hour tour of the facility yesterday afternoon and says the construction has exceeded his expectations adding it’s moving along well.
Ferguson’s background is in commercial construction.
He says washroom facilities are functioning, temporary concessions stands are being prepared and workers are cleaning up the concourses to make them ready.
Ferguson has even spoken with some of the workers on the job and is willing to say he’s 85 per cent sure the game will go ahead.
He says what’s holding him back from saying he’s 100 per cent sure is that the trades have not yet signed off on their work.
They have to certify their work has been completed in accordance to the design and specifications in order for the city to issue the occupancy permit. (Hamilton Spectator)
