School bans dairy, eggs, nuts

Hamilton, ON, Canada / AM900 CHML

A Hamilton mom has won her fight for an allergen free school for her daughter.

Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Elementary School now has a ban on all dairy, eggs, and nuts.

The Catholic School Board making the settlement with Lynne Glover after she filed a discrimination case against the board.

Her daughter, Elodie, is highly allergic to dairy and eggs.

Glover pulled Elodie out of kindergarten classes last year when she felt it was unsafe for her to be there.

Lynne says “part of the accommodation plan is that every morning lunch bags will be checked in the classroom. Anything that may contain a allergen will be taken out and the school will replace it with something else”

Glover says there are other issues from her complaint that will be heading to a human rights hearing.
