Not everyone is excited about the possible redevelopment of underutilized portions of the city hall property.
Ward 6 Councillor Tom Jackson is voicing concerns with the idea saying it doesn’t match his vision for the land that houses the local seat of government.
The motion to investigate development opportunities has been presented by Ward 4’s Sam Merulla who says it’s about a major revenue opportunity and striking while the iron is hot.
His motion calls for a study of all options including hotel, commercial, housing and offices for city employees. The so-called “underutilized” areas include the parking lot behind city hall.
