The CFL and NFL are coming together to create a joint officiating development program.
The initiative will see officials from each league involved in games on both sides of the border.
Beginning this season, NFL officials will join CFL crews during pre-season and regular season games in June and July.
Several CFL officials will attend NFL mini-camps and training camps and will get to officiate some pre-season games.
Because of the different rules in each league, the NFL officials working in the CFL will be primarily side judges and field judges.
With a bevy of new rules, and a 22 per cent increase in penalties since 2012, CFL officials have been criticized in recent years by fans, players and coaches.
