If the latest plans for Hamilton’s West Harbour are approved the site is about to dramatically change.
The latest plan for a waterfront community at Piers 7 and 8 include 16-hundred housing units, as well as business space and recreational areas.
But Chris Phillips, the lead author of the Design Study says the plan also calls for greater public access to the waterfront.
“When our plan is fully implemented, the public will have a fully accessible waterfront, right on the water’s edge just like you do in any other community.”
Adding it will run from Pier 4 all the way around to the haida.
He says, under the plan, less than 20 percent of the land mass along the waterfront is to be owned by the private sector.
The plan will be discussed at a community meeting next Monday.
