An East Hamilton street will be transformed into a fully functioning ball and ice hockey rink.
The section of Roxborough Avenue between Graham Avenue North and Province Street will finally be put to use.
It’s been closed to traffic since 2014.
In the coming days the lines will be painted on the road and a chain link fence will be put up at the Honourable Bob Mackenzie Park Ball Hockey Rink.
The rink will be 11m by 34m in size, roughly a quarter of the size of a standard NHL-sized hockey rink.
Ward 4 Councillor Sam Merulla says the project puts a new spin on “take back the streets”.
The full project is scheduled to be completed by September.
