Hamilton continues to be a leader when it comes to organ and tissue donation.
The latest figures released by the Trillium Gift of Life Network show that 35% of the city’s residents are registered donors, compared to a provincial average of 29%.
Last year’s numbers show 39 organ donors and 103 tissue donors were cared for by Hamilton Health Sciences.
Province-wide last year, 1,173 patients on the transplant list were given another chance at life thanks to 296 deceased donors.
That represents a 61% increase over the past decade.
