As a way to improve safety and reduce speeds on the Linc and Red Hill Valley Parkway, the city is installing 47 oversized speed limit signs.

David Ferguson, superintendent of traffic engineering, tells CBC “they’re probably the largest you can manufacture”.
The move was recommended as part of a safety review of the Red Hill and Lincoln Alexander Parkway.
The roads were designed for speeds under 110 km/h, however a study found that more than 500 vehicles per day drive faster than 140 km/h on the Red Hill Valley Parkway.
Other suggestions include speed feedback signs and rain-activated flashing beacons.
