The Hamilton Fire Department is asking hikers to stay on marked paths after being called to three rescues Saturday.
Within two and a half hours, firefighters were dispatched to rescue eight people and one dog.
The most serious was a woman in her twenties who fell over nine metres into the Sherman falls in Ancaster.
Then, three adults, 2 children, and a dog had to be pulled up–one by one– after getting trapped at Tews falls in Dundas.
Less than an hour later, a rope rescue was needed for a man and woman stuck 10 metres down at Felker’s Falls in Stoney Creek.
The only injury was to the woman at Sherman falls. She was taken to hospital with a possible broken leg.
Spokesperson for the Hamilton Fire Department Claudio Mostacci says people can overestimate their ability and get themselves into dangerous. situations.
He says to please enjoy the scenery from approved areas.
