The back to school ads started weeks ago, soon followed by nervous tummies and sleepless nights in anticipation of the first day of class.
Haircuts, back packs, school supplies, new clothes that fit, all part of the ritual signalling the unofficial end of summer.
This year my son Kurt heads into grade 4 while my daughter Alicia takes the next big step, entering grade 9.
Most kids are anxious the first day but entering high school is a completely different head space.
It seems her attire is just as important as her classes or teachers?
When did that happen?
So as she heads back looking for old friends and trying to make new ones, my view has also changed.
Not only do I want to dress her in a burlap sack, I also want to keep her braces on an extra year…
Just to make sure the teeth are straight, (of course)
Good luck kids!
