Employee theft has been a problem since the day a wage was first paid.
Globally, dishonest employees are behind about 28%- 40% of inventory losses.
This is mostly in the retail sector but happens where ever goods and services are produced, bought and sold.
So should we be surprised that an employee at the Canadian Mint couldn’t resist temptation and stole $180,000. in gold pucks from the plant?
No. What’s surprising is, it happened in what is supposed to be one of the most secure sites in the world. The Canadian Mint.
So what did he do to get them out, shove them up his rear end?
Yes, as a matter of fact, that is exactly what he did.
A tube of lube was discovered in his locker.
Tests proved the gold, he later sold at a mall, matched the batch at the mint.
The Canadian Mint says it has torqued up surveillance and security.
Just imagine what lunch hour pat down looks like now.
Anyone got a flashlight?
