The recent arson attempt at the Ibrahim Jame Mosque in downtown Hamilton has left the local Muslim community rattled.
A suspect has been charged and the act deemed a hate crime.
The Muslim Council of Greater Hamilton is calling for a meeting with Police Chief Eric Girt to explore ways of making the community feel safe.
Council Member Dr. Reza Khan says one thing the council would like is a police services board with better diversity.
He says that would create governance which represents all of Hamilton.
Khan says several open houses are planned within the Muslim Community for next month as a way of helping to create better understanding.
