The city, as promised, is reaching out to residents on the topic of waste collection.
It has started contacting 800 randomly selected households by phone, and until the end of the month is inviting anyone to fill out a survey on the city’s website at www.hamilton.ca/wastesurvey
The survey seeks opinions on the current collection program, as well as the possibility of a shift to bi-weekly garbage collection as the city prepares to negotiate new contracts in 2020.
Councillor Tom Jackson says major changes will be a tough sell and take a “mountain of ammunition”. He notes that his residents want their current levels of service and continued progress on the illegal dumping problem.
The results of the survey, along with future options, will be presented to council early next year.
